Biography
Golden Hours were conceived amidst the fall-out from cult Reading five-piece, The Wookies. From this former incarnation they inherited a well-honed knack for creating epic, genre re-defining songs.
Taking influence from a range of sources, they have developed a reputation for cutting and splicing sounds and genres to create an altogether unique style: angular, spaced-out rock with an experimental pop edge. Their music combines the frenzied passion of Arcade Fire, the synth-led melodrama of Muse and the smouldering ambience of Pink Floyd.
Golden Hours have also inherited their former identity’s extensive performing, recording and overall DIY ethic. The band’s pride in their independent approach was justified when their EP, Sparks (released on Josaka/Broken Tail Records) sold all 150 physical copies and garnered BBC Radio airplay from Steve Lamacq and Stuart Maconie, as well as Germany’s POPSCENE in 2009. The record received praise for the way in which it captured the passion, vivacity and sublime cheekiness of this most peculiar modern band.
It is true to say that Golden Hours represents a fresh maturity and professionalism for this line-up. The band plans to gig extensively throughout 2010 and add more luminaries to the list of bands that they have appeared alongside, which includes some of the Nation’s best breaking artists; namely We Have Band, Chew Lips and Pure Reason Revolution.
Lead guitarist Sam is a respected public figure and has a current endorsement from Mariner Guitars. Furthermore, this exciting relationship extends to represent the Golden Hours band as a whole.

“A weird and wonderful beast… like Muse with a bit more class”
Russell’s Reviews

“Chants, retro organ sounds, total wig-outs and a general psychedelic groove… this record has something new at every turn”
The Mag
“Lurches joyfully between the gloriously messy, and the neatly written pop song”
Is This Music?
“Every track is different and novel… a much needed breath of fresh air in an increasingly stagnant music scene”
